2005 first witnessed a similar music industry workshop, which took Sinead around the country to 15 locations teaching children of all ages – tips and techniques of the music/entertainment business. Now Sinead has set her sights on an all-year round talent school.
The talent academy, which will run every Saturday, will give Students the options of taking an exclusive pop academy for vocal techniques, musical theatre or hip-hop classes. Sinead revealed: “urban hip-hop will be taught by
Robyn Byrne, who has just returned from a stint in Las Vegas – competing at the World Hip-Hop Championships – she’s extremely talented and at the top of her game and I believe the kids will be inspired by her.”
Not only will students be treated to one-to-oneprofessional advice and individual performance techniques from the popstar herself, it is rumoured that some well-known music industry buddies are set to make an appearance.
TV3 presenter, Sinead intimates “the stage school project has been on the back-burner for a while now. Plans were halted for its launch due to my pregnancy. Now I’ve come full circle – I started in stage school at the tender age five and now the dream of setting-up my own has finally materialized."
Yet the prospect of having to juggle a new infant, a home and a new business venture – is daunting by her own admission. "No matter how much you plan to go back to work after having a baby – you can never really prepare for it. The hardest part will undoubtedly be spending a couple of hours away from my little angel,” she explained.
Spending the past ten months focusing on Baby Samarah - and loving every single moment of her new role – Sinead claims she wouldn't swap it for the world but it seems the new mother is also eager to help young aspiring performers reach their own levels of greatness, in the entertainment business -- whatever level they choose.
“It requires a lot of commitment and will definitely take a bit of getting used to - but I intend to make this a real success, and already plans are being made to roll out a Star Academy in every major town/city across Ireland” she continued.
The pop starlet hit the small screens last year presenting TV3’s Inside & Out, the make-over show met with a positive response from TV pundits and has since been working with various media production teams both here and in London.
Commenting on recent rumours about the possibility of B*Witched reuniting, Sinead revealed; “the four of us met up last month for dinner and an informal relaxed chat - but as of yet nothing has been set in stone.
As each one of us is at a different stage in our lives – it presents the biggest challenge to overcome, in order for it to work for everybody.” However industry sources have confirmed several UK promoters have approached the girls to initiate their ‘come-back’ by performing at various high profile events this year.
Like many working mums, Sinead presently divides her time between motherhood and putting the finishing touches to her academy. Once up and running – she has revealed her intention to embark on another project but has been advised to remain tight lipped until ready for launch – "I'm working on a new exciting web-based concept with a UK Record company, that has been in development for the past year – but right now getting the stage school off the ground is the priority, " she explained.
The first school opens its doors at Shoreline Leisure Centre Greystones, on Saturday 26th Sept. Classes are open to children/teens aged 5 - 18. Places are limited so applications must be submitted in advance.
